Parts check list

The parts included in this check list were intented to be used to construct a 1″ hydraulic ram pump. If a larger or smaller pump is desired then obviously you must change the diameters of the fittings to suit your needs however the individual pieces needed will remain the same regardless of pump size.

Note:

This ram pump was constructed using black iron fittings suitable for irrigation and non potable water uses, if you intend to use this pump for potable water than be sure to use fittings safe for consumable water such as copper/brass/ stainless steel etc. Hydraulic ram pumps can also be constructed entirely out of pvc however the parts list will differ from below.

  • 2x 1″ Brass swing check valves
  • 2x 1″ Close nipples
  • 1″ Street “L”
  • 2x 1″ Tee
  • 2x 1″x 4″ Pipe nipple
  • 1″ x 2″ Pipe nipple
  • 1″male x 1/2″ female bushing
  • 1/2″ x 3″ Pipe nipple
  • 1/2″ exterior faucet valve
  • 30″ x 2″ Sch 40 pvc pipe
  • 2″ Glue on pvc cap
  • 2″ x 1″ Npt glue in pvc bushing
  • 15″ Closed cell foam (water weenie/swim noodle)
  • Teflon tape or pipe sealer
  • 2″ Glue on female coupler
  • Pvc primer and glue
  • 20′ Plus of 1″ pipe preferably steel however pvc will work (drive pipe)

Optional parts

  • 1/2″ plumbing to install a pressure gauge
  • Spare 1″ swing check valves for future maintenance/replacement
  • 2x 1″ barringer clamps/soft clamps for mounting purposes
  • 1″ union to make later removal of pump from drive pipe easier (maintenance or repair)
  • 1″ ball valve ( installs upstream of the optional union in drive pipe ) this provides a way to stop the flow of water from your source if repairs on your pump require removal.
